As a Principal Consultant, you will:
- Collaborate with fellow experts on thrilling projects, expanding your skill set while making a lasting impact on urban development.
- Lead and inspire teams of talented consultants and graduates in shaping the future of active travel projects, ensuring top-notch quality and excellence across all aspects of the work.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of projects, from visionary planning to successful delivery, driving innovation at every step.
- Create impactful consultation reports, policy documents, and technical presentations.
- Engage with diverse stakeholders, from the public to influential elected representatives, to craft policies and projects that resonate with communities.
- Maintain project files, CRM systems, financial management systems, quality assurance standards, and implement improved procedures to provide a more robust and efficient service.
- Exceed client expectations by expertly handling enquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Support bids that secure work with existing and new clients, forging strong partnerships to reshape the transport landscape.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Experience and Skills:
- A relevant degree in transport planning, urban planning, urban design, project management, or highway design (equivalent work experience considered).
- Expertise in developing robust stakeholder relations and effective partnership working.
- A fervent commitment to delivering environmentally conscious transport projects.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and spoken.
- A proactive approach to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and excel with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated experience managing and inspiring junior staff.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated experience to manage multiple projects and balance workload across competing priorities.
Desirable Experience and Skills:
- Membership of a professional institution (e.g., TTP, MICE or MCIHT) or working towards this prestigious status.
- Project management certification (PRINCE2 or APM)
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
- Proficiency in public engagement and consultation for transport projects.
- Familiarity with traffic order making and legislation.
- Comprehensive understanding and experience in the policy and statutory framework governing Healthy Streets, transport planning, and related activities.
- Graphic design skills in adobe suite
- A track record of successful involvement in active travel projects.
- Experience working in a UK local authority within a related team.
